Arizona +104 over N.Y. METS

7:10 PM EST. It’s just one of those years in baseball where things are not falling our way. We played the D-Backs last night and they out-hit the Mets 10-5 but lost 3-2. We’ll take our chances 100% of the time when the underdog outhits the favorite by a 2-1 margin. Nevertheless, that’s the way the ol’ ball bounces but it’s not going to deter us from coming right back on the Snakes here. 

Steven Matz (LHP - NYM) is coming off a 109-pitch effort in his last start and has a shaky history in the 110-next-time-out range. What’s so interesting is that the 109 pitches v Philadelphia in his last start got him through just 5.2 innings of work. Matz has already worked 142 innings this year when his previous high was just 134 frames over the past five years. This now becomes unchartered territory. Matz has an even shakier history against the Diamondbacks (.970 OPS against). Arizona’s best splits include those on the road (.783 OPS) and against left-handed pitchers (.855).

Robbie Ray (LHP - ARI) was removed from his previous start with a blister on his left middle finger but all systems are a go here. Ray has been solid on the road and he also has 207 K’s in 156 innings. The Mets own a sub-.700 OPS over their last 10 home games but this is more of a wager against Steven Matz than it is on Ray. The Mets got very lucky to win last night, which was just their third win at home in their last 11.
