8:40 PM EST. The Rockies and Cardinals played to a 2-1 final at Coors last night so two things are in line for a change here. The first thing is a rare one-run game at Coors and the second thing is more runs being scored and both figure to be in the Cards favor. The Rockies are extremely beatable these days and appear very much to be playing out the string. Mentally, they are just not strong right now.

Dakota Hudson (RHP - STL) has pitched quite well of late and has the groundball stuff to weather Coors. Colorado owns a .716 OPS and take very few walks against groundballers. Hudson has an elite 59% groundball rate and the Rockies have struggled everywhere lately, including their thin-air Denver environs (.607 OPS in September).

On August 25, Antonio Senzatela (RHP - COL) was recalled from Class AAA Albuquerque. In his first start for Colorado in over a month after that callup, Senzatela didn’t make it out of the second inning, as he gave up five hits and six earned runs to St. Louis on that same day.  It was his fifth consecutive disaster over which time he surrendered 29 runs over 18 innings. Since that start, Senzatela has been worse with an ERA of 15.14 and an xERA of 9.73. Antonio Senzatela has a rancid BB/K split of 49/57 over 103 frames this year at this level. He’s not only void of skills, he’s shell-shocked. The Rockies have little choice but to hand him the ball seeing how Jon Gray is out for the season, German Marquez could end up the same, and Kyle Freeland has spent his summer between COL, AAA-Albuquerque and the Injured List. It’s almost impossible to out-ugly Senzatela and thus, we’ll gladly take our chances on the Cardinals here to win by two or more. Taking back a small tag, it’s a bargain to be sure.
