8:10 PM EST. Tanner Roark’s (RHP - CIN) game is avoiding hard contact. He’s not amazing at it or anything, he’s just better than the average arm. Dude has a BB/K split of 30/92 in 92 innings with a 3.51/4.27 ERA/xERA split.

On May 31, Kyle Freeland (LHP - COL) was sent down to Class AAA Albuquerque after posting a 7.13 ERA after 12 starts. Minus the backdrop of the surprising season he had in 2018, the demotion didn’t stand out. However, last year’s numbers (17-7, 2.85 ERA) were not representative of the underlying skills he displayed and he was the beneficiary of a very favorable strand rate. In the first two months this year, there were more walks, more hits, and MANY more HR allowed (2.1 hr/9), resulting in said 7.13 ERA/5.17 xERA and 1.57 WHIP. Freeland wasn’t great at Triple-A either. He allowed 40 hits and 29 earned runs over 29.2 innings for an ERA/xERA split of 8.80/7.12 and an oppBA of .328. This is his first game back since the demotion but it’s because of injuries that he was recalled. Furthermore, there will be lots of pressure that he’ll be putting on himself because he obviously doesn’t want to go back to riding buses and eating Subway.

That’s the skinny on the starting pitchers but this is simply the “Coors Field” angle back in play.
