2:10 PM EST. We’re not going to sugarcoat this and suggest that Steven Brault is good, although we prefer him 100% of the time over Milwaukee’s starter. Brault was a highly touted starter out of college that has had some difficulties more than once at this level but he’s paid his dues, he’s improving and he has good stuff. Brault has appeared in 45 games this season with five of those being starts, including the last four in a row. He’s had two excellent starts in June and two average ones. In June, Brault has a 2.53 xERA over those four starts with a 51% groundball rate and a 4.72 xERA. He also has 18 K’s over that stretch spanning 21 innings. That’s the skinny on Brault but this wager has nothing to do with backing him.

The prices on the Pirates keep coming in and we’re not jumping off, especially against Zach Davies. Davies has 57 K’s in 86 innings for one of the worst strikeout rates among all pitchers in the league. That includes relievers and minor-leaguers as well. His 7% swing & miss rate guarantees that the baseball will be put in play and Davies will once again pray that balls will be hit right at people. His xERA since the beginning of May is 5.66, which is second worst among all starters in the game with at least 40 innings. Zach Davies is priced like he’s Kenta Maeda pitching for the Dodgers when in fact, he should be priced like he’s Bartolo Colon coming out of retirement for one start. This line is f**king absurd and hopefully we get paid.
