9:45 PM EST. The Los Angeles Dodgers are considered by most to be the best team in the NL and a near lock to make it to the World Series. The Dodgers also get heavily backed daily in betting markets. We mention this because said market just watched the Diamondbacks take two of three from the Dodgers while nearly sweeping them. Now the team that the market watched nearly sweep the Dodgers is evenly priced against the Giants and their starter with his 6.96 ERA.  Buyer beware, as this is a massive letdown spot for the Snakes after they packed Chase Field the past three days and took it to the Dodgers. It also looks like the “sucker” bet of the day.

Tyler Beede (RHP - SF) has walked 25 batters in 32 frames and comes in with a 6.96 ERA after six starts and two relief appearances. However, he also has 36 K’s and a lot of upside. Tyler Beede has come at hitters with upwards of six different pitches. The best of these include a two-seam fastball, a cutter, a 12-to-6 curve, and a decent change. While none are plus-plus offerings, the mix-and-match has served him well—when he's able to harness his control, that is. Over 499 career minor league innings, Beede compiled a 4.11 ERA with progressive improvements year by year. There’s a fine line in the craft of starting pitching wherein an abundance of pitches in a repertoire can harm or help development. Tyler Beede is a rare bird that could end up thriving if he can throw strikes. He’s a former #1 pick that has a very good 68% first-pitch strike rate and a 13% swing % miss rate over his last five starts. Dude can pitch but his 6.96 ERA will make the suddenly popular Diamondbacks very, very appealing here.

Being overlooked is that the Diamondbacks have a first-time starter going here by the name of Alex Young (LHP - ARI). The D-backs thought they had a quick-mover on their hands when they popped lefty Alex Young in the second round of the 2015 draft. Instead, his stuff went backwards after turning pro. Since then and covering 448 minor-league innings, Young has posted a career 4.34 ERA with an opBAA of .267. Pitching for Reno of the hitter-friendly PCL, Young has a 6.09 ERA this year after allowing 66 hits in 54 innings and walking 16 for a WHIP of 1.68. He also has a BB/K split of 26/64. Alex Young was not the first call-up for the D-backs, as they have used others before him but are now running out of options after both Jon Duplantie and Like Weaver were injured. This is a pitching desperate team that is searching for anyone to fill in the 5th spot in the rotation and Young is next up.
