4:05 PM EST. Keep your eye on the Blue Jays. Considered (for good reason) to be among the worst teams in the league, the Blue Jays were projected to win close to 80 games before the season began. Right now, their stock has hit bottom but they are not as bad as their record indicates. Over the past two games, Toronto has done damage against Andrew Heaney and Chris Sale. The Blue Jays have also belted out 31 jacks so far in June which puts them on the same pace as the Yanks and a better pace than the Red Sox and Rays. Absolutely the Jays have a chance here against Brian Johnson (LHP - BOS), a starter/reliever that shouldn’t be this price in the minors, let alone the majors.

Johnson is a soft-tossing swingman that eats some innings for the Red Sox when they have nobody else to turn to. That's about all he's good for. Dude has a fly-ball lean, a low 7% swing and miss rate and a so-so first-pitch strike rate. Combine all that with his career xERA of 4.81 to 5.31 (depending on what site you use) and it makes him a blowup risk every time out. Johnson shows better skills as a reliever, and could one day convert into a useful LOOGY (lefties, one-out guy) but that's not valuable to you, either. That this stiff is priced like he’s Tanaka pitching for the Yanks is beyond ludicrous and anyone that bets the Red Sox spotting -180 or so with Johnson starting deserves to lose. Incidentally, the Jays are using a bullpen start today so there is no reason to discuss their starter.
