4:10 PM EST. Adam Plutko (RHP - CLE) is getting a MLB start today only because Carlos Carrasco is sidelined. Cleveland was hoping injured starter Mike Clevinger would be ready to provide a boost to the injury-riddled rotation but he’s not. Plutko saw some MLB action earlier this year but was demoted following his second spot start in which he allowed four home runs in five innings. Plutko relies on sharp control to fuel any success he might have. Truth be told, he’s an extreme flyball pitcher that was touched up for a whopping 2.5 hr/9 while struggling mightily v lefties. His ground-ball/fly-ball rate is 27%/46%. It’s not a pretty résumé but the Yanks are still overpriced and this wager is more about being a straight fade against C.C. Sabathia (LHP - NYY).

Sabathia has made it past 5.2 innings in just two of his nine starts. He is currently riding the wave of an unsustainable 87% strand rate, which is fueling his surface ERA of 3.61. His 4.84 xERA is alarming, as is the 13 jacks he’s allowed over his last seven starts. Right-handed batters have been doing major damage against him with a .847 OPS. On paper, it looks like Sabathia is taking the whole "guile-fueled late-career resurgence" thing to another level but we assure you that he’s no good anymore and the strand rate gods will catch up with him. The Yanks just lost two out of three to Toronto and lost the opener in this series so all of a sudden they’re laboring just a bit. C.C is not the answer and is pure fade material when he’s road chalk.
