Game 1

2:05 PM EST. This is going to be a long day for Texas, as they will play two games and retire Adrian Beltre’s number is a pregame ceremony before Game 2. In fact, Game 2 is set to start at 9:05 PM EST but fans have been encouraged to get there an hour early because that’s when the retirement ceremony will begin. We cannot overemphasize how distracting the entire weekend is for every player in that Rangers locker room and it’s for that reason that we’re fading the Rangers in both games today.

Incidentally, the Rangers Game 1 starter will be Joe Palumbo (LHP - TEX). Palumbo was a 30th-round pick by the Rangers in 2013, has come back from Tommy John surgery, and despite not having pitched above Double-A, now finds himself making a spot start in the majors. Again, this is a DOUBLE-A pitcher making his first major-league start while skipping over Triple-A. We don’t care who is pitching for the A’s.

Game 2

Oakland -1½ +121 over TEXAS  

9:05 PM EST. Adrian Sampson (RHP - TEX) has had four of his six starts this season end up in a disaster, including his lone start versus the Athletics this season back on April 14. Right-handed batters have feasted when facing him, as they have a .924 OPS.

Paul Blackburn i(RHP - OAK) s making his season debut here but it’s not his first rodeo. Blackburn has 16 starts at this level between 2017 and last year with seven of those being of the pure quality variety but again, we don’t care who it pitching for the A’s because by the time this game starts, the Rangers will be exhausted from all the obligations over the past 36 hours regarding Adrian Beltre’s retirement party.
