The Astronauts have the Red Sox in for a weekend series beginning tomorrow and it’s the hottest ticket in town so they could be excused for being as complacent as can be and looking ahead here. Additionally, Corbin Martin (RHP - HOU) has made two starts in his career and is a massive risk at this price. Martin displayed his potential control issues in his second start against Boston with zero strikeouts and four walks. That followed a spectacular debut, with a 9/1 K/BB against Texas. These differing results make him something of a wild card, as he faces the White Sox in Houston. The strongest part of Martin's rating is a strong win score because he pitches for the Astronauts but his other ratings are far less favorable. In his two starts, Corbin has a weak 52% first-pitch strike rate, a weak 8% swing and miss rate, a pedestrian 38% groundball rate and a below average 1.40 WHIP.

Lucas Giolito (RHP - CWS) has been excellent over the past month with a 1.85 ERA and a 3.45 xERA. Giolito was a highly touted prospect out of college but was among the worst starters in the game over his first 2½- years before things started to click in the second half of last year. This 24-year-old kid has paid his dues and is now putting his nasty stuff to good use. Giolito has 50 K’s in in 43 frames with a supported 13% swing & miss rate. In fact, all of his command sub-indicators are solid and he has made good headway against LH batters, who torched him at times in 2018. His groundball/line-drive rate last game was 54%/8% and while we understand the risks when trying to tame this beast he'll face, Giolito is too good to ignore at prices like this. The South Side split the first two games of this series and have proven time and time again what a live and pesky underdog they can be. The risk is worth the reward.
