6:40 PM EST. Kyle Hendricks (RHP - CHC) continues to stave off critics who think an implosion is coming due to mid-80s velocity. His change-up remains his bread-and-butter and is showing no signs of losing its deception. Hendricks’ pinpoint control is legitimized by his first-pitch strike rate so it's here to stay too. His xERA of 3.70 confirms his downside isn't steep. Hendricks started the season with three straight weak starts but followed that up with strong starts in three of his last four. He has not allowed a run over his last two starts, in which he owns a 10/0 K/BB. Today, his opponent is the Reds, who have a .209 BA and .664 OPS versus right-handed pitching.

Tanner Roark (RHP - CIN) is 3-1 with a 2.70 ERA over his last five starts and that works to our advantage because we get the Cubbies at a bargain price here. A 77% strand rate is helping Roark’s ERA come in almost two runs lower than his xERA of 4.80. It is worth noting that Roark has not been able to get left-handed batters out this season, as they have a .348 BA and 1.031 OPS against him and the Cubbies will send up four left-handed bats. Great park to spot the runs in and also a great matchup for Chicago’s bats to go off.
