7:07 PM EST. Dylan Covey (RHP - CWS) has made one start this year and two relief appearances covering six lousy innings. We’re not going to sugarcoat this and suggest that Covey has some hidden intrigue because he does not. He went 5-14 with a 5.18 ERA in 122 frames for the South Side last year. There was some early success with velocity uptick and increased sinker usage and then he moved to/from bullpen as numbers tanked. Career MLB stats: 5-21, 6.10 ERA, 1.55 WHIP in roughly full season's innings but really, an alarming disaster start % says it all. We’re still betting him because the White Sox can score and will face a starter on Covey’s level.

Clay Buchholz (RHP - TOR) was originally scheduled to start but a change in plans has Daniel Hudson (RHP - TOR) making his starting debut this year.  Hudson has made 17 appearances out of the pen and nothing in his profile suggests success. He has walked eight batters over his last 13 innings with 11 K’s. He has an xERA of 5.57 so pay no attention to his respectable 3.63 surface ERA. This is a 32-year-old journeyman that is on his fourth team since 2016. The Snakes, Pirates and Dodgers wanted nothing to do with him after brief stints in each city and the Jays subsequently snagged him off the scrap heap. Hudson’s control and xERA are both moving in the wrong direction. The White Sox aren't a great team, but they have a league average offense with great speed while the Blue Jays offense is anemic on its best day.
