8:40 PM EST. We’re going to bank on the hot bats of the Rockies to put up some crooked numbers tonight against Eric Lauer (LHP - SD). Lauer continues to post near-league-average skills, which is simply not good enough at this park. Lauer will put up some decent pitching lines from time to time but much of it is the result of pitching at pitcher-friendly venues. Dude will not have that luxury here and he’ll also come in with the knowledge that in his only trip to Coors (last year), he was torched to the tune of 6 earned runs, 4 walks issued and 3 K’s in three innings. Additionally, the Rockies have an .808 OPS at home and Lauer has yet to throw a pure quality start in 2019. For Eric Lauer, this has disaster written all over it.

German Marquez's (RHP- COL) final three months of 2018 were legendary, returning elite number across the board - 2.47 ERA, 0.95 WHIP, 33% strikeout rate, and a 5% walk rate in 113 frames. Fantastic, ace-like, stellar. Some have pointed to his curveball locations improving lower in the zone, or how he removed heaters in favor of more sliders, or how he vastly improved his fastball command. In 52 innings this year covering eight starts (4 at Coors), Marquez has struck out 52 and walked 12. He also has an outstanding 53%/19%/28% ground-ball/line-drive/fly-ball profile to go along with an elite 3.24 xERA. German Marquez is the real deal that thrives everywhere he pitches and is one of the very few pitchers that has been immune to the Coors Field Park factor.
