10:07 PM EST. Mike Fiers (RHP - OAK) is another veteran Oakland starter who is wearing out his welcome after a handful of starts. Fiers owns a 6.81 ERA and 1.49 WHIP after 37 frames and his skills foundation doesn't exist. Fiers’  7.9% swing and miss rate, 61% first-pitch strike rate, 37% ball% and 41% groundball rate all are mediocre or worse. Moneyball is not known for throwing away cash on washed up pitchers but times it by two this year with Marco Estrada being the other guy. Mike Fiers is extremely hittable without a single redeeming skill.

Buy low. Tyler Mahle (RHP - CIN) has taken the loss in each of his last four starts, despite having a 21/3 K/BB in 22 IP. The skills he is displaying say that he deserves better than his surface stats (3.42 xERA, 9.0 K’s/9, 1.9 BB’s/9). The Athletics have not been great versus right-handed pitching, as their .688 OPS is well below the league average.
