1:15 PM EST. This is the first game of a doubleheader after last night's contest was rained out. We were all over the Royals with Blake Snell (LHP - TAM) on the mound for Tampa, but the reigning Cy Young Winner has been moved to the nightcap, which will leave "opener" Ryan Stanek (RHP - TAM) and a mix of bullpen fodder to get through Game 1. With that in mind, we are going to stick with Kansas City, as we get a much better matchup for Jake Junis (RHP - KAN). Here is what we wrote about the young righty yesterday.

Junis has all the makings of a quality starter despite his .500 record and inflated ERA (5.57). A deeper dive shows that Junis's xERA is a near-elite 3.76, while his strikeout rate is up 0.60 over last season to 8.91 K/9, which is right around the league average in 2019. He has a respectable strand rate of 67.4% and Junis has been incredibly unlucky with a BABP of .351. His career average is .302 and the league average is .293 so far this season. Junis was rolling against these Rays in his last start, but he was forced from the game after taking a line drive off his throwing hand. For one reason or another, the Rays have been a good matchup for the 26-year-old, as he is 3-1 with an ERA of 2.08 against Tampa. Maybe we're gluttons for punishment, but we're going to come right back on the Royals here this afternoon.
