1:10 PM EST. Steven Matz (LHP - NYM) bounced back from a rough start at Philadelphia on April 16 with a six-strikeout, three-hit, one-run performance in six innings on April 22 against the same Phillies. Losing some ground balls (42% GB%) carries some risk against a Milwaukee offense that fares well vs. LHP. The southpaw offers average control and a decent WHIP, as he looks to slow down RHH's .840 OPS against him. For all you total bettors, the posted number today on this game is o8 -113 and we would never discourage anyone from making that bet. We’ll live with whatever Matz delivers here because this is a straight fade on our old friend, Gio Gonzalez (LHP - MIL).

Gonzalez agreed to terms on a one-year contract with the Brewers Wednesday, April 24, worth $2 million, according to sources. Gonzalez will provide Milwaukee a southpaw presence in an otherwise all-RHP rotation. He will join fellow veteran RHP Chase Anderson in replacing youngsters who opened the season in the Milwaukee rotation. Gonzalez's skills are trending in the wrong direction, including four straight seasons of rising xERA, three consecutive years of fading velocity and back-to-back seasons of K-rate, command and skills decline. The seemingly slow recovery and return of RHP Jimmy Nelson from Tommy John surgery and the struggles of youngsters Corbin Burnes, Freddy Peralta and Adrian Houser have provided opportunity in the Milwaukee rotation but more importantly, it provides us opportunity to get a few more cracks at him.
