6:05 PM EST. Note the early start time. Aaron Nola (RHP) is good and has looked the part of a rotation anchor in July all season long with 13 wins, just three losses and a skills supported 2.28 ERA. In July, Nola got first-pitch strikes at a rate rarely seen (80%) while still being tough to make contact against (12.7% swing and miss rate). However, over his last 25 frames covering four starts, Nola has registered 18 K’s with eight walks issued. If that’s a sign of fatigue, we’re going to find out but make no mistake that this wager has absolutely nothing to do with fading Nola.

For the third time over the past week, we get a true ace at a ridiculous price and we’re not going to skip over it. We cashed in with Blake Snell (+165) and Jacob deGrom (+190) and now it’s Noah Syndergaard’s (RHP) turn. Before we get to Syndergaard, it’s worth noting that the Mets are swinging some of the hottest bats in the majors right now (78 runs scored in their past nine games). They scored eight runs or more in four of those past nine while the Phillies’ bats have been struggling. Over that same nine game span, Philadelphia has scored two runs or less four times and has scored 34 runs over that same nine-game stretch. Thus, not only do we get the superior pitcher, we get an Mets’ nine that are killing it lately.

Back to Syndergaard, who was activated from the 10-day disabled list on August 1 and has made three starts since. All he’s done is ramp it up big time. Syndergaard’s average fastball is 98 MPH and with that power comes an absolute elite 17% swing and miss rate. Noah has only issued 19 walks all season long in 95 frames while striking out 100. In three starts since returning, Syndergaard’s groundball rate was 62%. This starter is the straight goods and when he’s healthy, he’s as skilled as ANYONE and we mean anyone. Syndergaard priced in this range is an snap call.
