9:40 PM EST. Sometimes you just have to stick with it. We played the Diamondbacks last night spotting runs and never stood a chance after Madison Bumgarner escaped a shaky first inning (bases loaded, one out) unscathed and the Snakes got beat 8-1. The D-Backs will now have the luxury of facing Chris Stratton (RHP) and it would be a great surprise if they didn’t put up a crooked number.
Stratton starts for the first time since he was whacked in Colorado back on July 3. On July 26, Stratton came off the DL and made one brief relief appearance against Milwaukee (1.1 innings pitched) so he’s pitched four outs over the past month. Prior to going on the DL, Stratton made 18 starts and posted a 5.14 ERA with a BB/K split of 37/75 in 98 innings. His 4.98 xERA wasn’t much better than his actual ERA either and it’s even worse when you consider that San Francisco at night is the best pitcher’s park in the league. We’ve seen a few signs of life A few signs of life from Stratton but he still gives up lots of hard contact. His weak swing and miss rate rate doesn't support further strikeout rate upside and for the most part, any success that he’s had on a game-to-game basis between this year and last is mostly strand-rate driven luck. When strand rate is normal, Stratton gets whacked. Is "very mediocre" an oxymoron?
Patrick Corbin (LHP) is one of the game's most skilled starting pitchers with 12.4 K’s/9 1.6 BB’s/9, 54% grounders and a remarkable 2.87 xERA. His elite rate of strikeouts is backed by a 17% swing and miss rate, and he does a great job of getting strike one (68%). He's getting whiffs on 41% of the sliders he is throwing. Corbin’s actual ERA of 3.26, which is still fantastic has some misfortune attached to it with a 71% strand rate, which is below league average. Corbin is truly a legit ace that figures to dominate this Giants lineup.
PLEASE NOTE: One of the unique things about our website is that we provide write-ups every single day on every game we post. We’re not sure if everyone understands how time consuming that is and how difficult it is as well but if you do not, please try it one day and you’ll see.
That said, we’re not going to change that. We’ll have write-ups every single day like we always do but we’re also going to have another feature. You see, we post our games usually in the early afternoon or before 1:00 PM EST but there is a lot of movement and other intangibles that occur throughout the day that has influence on what we’re betting. Usually after 6:00 PM EST or thereabouts, we’re going to be adding other games that we’re betting on in a section called “add-ons” for today that we ARE NOT going to write up because it’s too time consuming and with an hour or less before the first game goes off, we just won’t have the time.
This is a feature that you will see on our home page with the other wagers and we’ll also tweet it out when our add-ons have been posted.
Open an account today at and take advantage of their -104 style pricing on sides and totals, which is 60% better than other sportsbooks.
