7:35 PM EST. Expect the Braves to go off today on Dan Straily (RHP). The Marlins are Straily’s fifth team in last five years. He’s been good enough (barely) to pitch but not good enough to wager on and it’s getting worse. The Marlins need bodies to fill-in while they rebuild and Straily is not in their long-terms plans. He’s not in anyone’s long term plans. Dan Straily is an extreme flyballer that has given up 31 HR in each of the last two years. He would be on pace to give up that many again this year or more but he’s missed lots of time. At the end of the day, he’s as hittable and erratic as they come. He has a weak BB/K split of 40/69 in 64 frames. His 4.88 xERA is brutal when you consider he pitches in mostly pitcher-friendly parks. His extreme flies will continue without big K numbers and/or a groundball spike and there's no sign of either of those happening.

Enter Kolby Allard (LHP). He's not quite 21 years old, but this former first-round pick is making his major league debut. Allard has long been a top prospect. His star has dimmed a little this year as his K-rate dipped the higher he went in the minors (9.2 in A-ball, 7.7 in AA, 7.2 in AAA). Regardless of what his ceiling might be, his floor is clearly a major league starting pitcher, and in time perhaps a great one. With the potential to have three plus pitches, he has a ceiling as a projectable No. 2 starter or better. His two-seam fastball has solid arm-side run and drops off at the plate while sitting in the low-90s. His change-up has really improved and also has a late drop but his curve is his best pitch, a true 12-6 offering. Again, Allard is only 20 years old, so he has time to improve and develop even more pitching skills. He will start a game and then we will see after the trade deadline if there is a place for him in the rotation or if he goes back to Triple-A for more work. Rated a top-five prospect by many publications, the time has come for Allard to show what he’s got. The Braves figure to be a little extra jacked up too in support of their prized prospect.

Allard's career minor league line:

353.0 IP, 2.96 ERA, 2.6 BB’s/9l, 8.2 K’s/9, 22 HR, .244 oppBA, 1.19 WHIP.

2018 STATS: Gwinnett (AAA) – 18 g, 18 gs, 6-4, 2.80 ERA, 109.1 IP, 2.7 BB’s.9, 7.2 K’s/9, 6 HR, .249 oppBA,

1.20 WHIP

The Braves almost never promote a pitcher that isn’t ready and if they like him, we’re ready to invest.

PLEASE NOTE: One of the unique things about our website is that we provide write-ups every single day on every game we post. We’re not sure if everyone understands how time consuming that is and how difficult it is as well but if you do not, please try it one day and you’ll see.

That said, we’re not going to change that. We’ll have write-ups every single day like we always do but we’re also going to have another feature. You see, we post our games usually in the early afternoon or before 1:00 PM EST but there is a lot of movement and other intangibles that occur throughout the day that has influence on what we’re betting. Usually after 6:00 PM EST or thereabouts, we’re going to be adding other games that we’re betting on in a section called “add-ons” for today that we ARE NOT going to write up because it’s too time consuming and with an hour or less before the first game goes off, we just won’t have the time.

This is a feature that you will see on our home page with the other wagers and we’ll also tweet it out when our add-ons have been posted.
