7:10 PM EST. The Rays stock is low for many reasons, but a recent fire sale and a brutal series up in Baltimore that saw Tampa drop three straight after winning the opener are the key talking points coming into this home set with the Angels. Tampa didn’t just get beat in Baltimore either, as the Rays were lit up for 37 runs in those games. However, those recent results will do nothing but sour the market on the Rays, as Baltimore is regarded as the worst team in the majors. The market has a short memory and we don’t have to look too far back to see that Tampa more than held its own against the mighty Yankees in a homestand last week going 2-1. That included another quality “opener” game that has become the Rays’ calling card this season with many teams following suit. Ryne Stanek (RHP) started on the bump that night before handing things over to his teammates and that is the strategy the Rays will deploy tonight with Stanek set to take the mound. Stanek has thrived in this role, as he’s punched out 50 batters in just 40.2 frames. Ryan Yarbrough and Austin Pruitt are the guys in line to come in after Stanek pitches his one or two innings. Tampa is a much better team at home than it is on the road and Tropicana Field is a place where good bats go to die.

On the surface, Tyler Skaggs (LHP) has an impressive 2.62 ERA, but his xERA is nearly a point higher, which suggests a bit of regression. In his last start, Skaggs struck out nine batters over six innings, but that was against the lowly White Sox. Skaggs also had the good fortune to be matched up with James Shields and the gas can he calls his right arm. Before his start against the South Side, Skaggs was touched up by the Astros where he gave up six runs and six hits over six innings, while striking out just one man. In two career starts against the Rays, Skaggs is 0-1 with a 4.50 ERA. Tampa is very simply a much better dog than they are the chalk, as they continue to give contenders fits and have been doing so for years. Pay no attention to the results in the Orioles series and play the true value here.

PLEASE NOTE: One of the unique things about our website is that we provide write-ups every single day on every game we post. We’re not sure if everyone understands how time consuming that is and how difficult it is as well but if you do not, please try it one day and you’ll see.

That said, we’re not going to change that. We’ll have write-ups every single day like we always do but we’re also going to have another feature. You see, we post our games usually in the early afternoon or before 1:00 PM EST but there is a lot of movement and other intangibles that occur throughout the day that has influence on what we’re betting. Usually after 6:00 PM EST or thereabouts, we’re going to be adding other games that we’re betting on in a section called “add-ons” for today that we ARE NOT going to write up because it’s too time consuming and with an hour or less before the first game goes off, we just won’t have the time.

This is a feature that you will see on our home page with the other wagers and we’ll also tweet it out when our add-ons have been posted.
