2:20 PM EST. Zack Godley (RHP) has not been able to carry forward the gains he showed in 2017, at least in aggregate. He has been an impact starter with 114 K’s in 110 innings to go along with a solid 51% groundball rate. The problem for Godley is walks, as he’s issued 57 so far and that has led to a high WHIP and getting into some jams. At the end of the day, however, Godley has wicked stuff with a MLB high 18% swing and miss rate so if dude is throwing strikes, his chances of dominating are great. The D-Backs have have a good series in Chicago and have been solid since coming out of the break so we’ll roll with them here.

Then there’s Tyler Chatwood, who has the highest xERA in the majors among qualified starters because he cannot throw strikes. Chatwood has walked a MLB high 79 batters in 89 innings. Dude has walked more batters than he has struck out. The Diamondbacks are eighth in MLB in plate discipline so Chatwood does not get a bunch of free swingers here. Chatwood’s 6.22 xERA and 8.54 xERA over his last five starts is all the info we need to fade him as the chalk. If Chatwood was pitching for Arizona today and Godley was pitching for the Cubs, Chicago would be at least a 2-1 favorite.
