7:10 PM EST. This is a hell of a price to pay to back a Yankees squad that is coming off a New York Subway Series with the Mets and that was just swept in this ballpark last month. Sure, the Yankees are always a threat to win, but you are also going to pay a massive premium to get behind them and they are just not quite on the level of the other American League powerhouses in Houston and Boston. You are also going to cough up a little extra tonight with all-star Luis Severino taking the bump. While Severino has the goods, he was touched up in his last start against the Indians where he gave up four runs over five innings. The Yanks are a home run hitting team but with that approach also comes a ton of strikeouts, as the Bronx Bombers rank third in the AL behind the White Sox and Rangers in whiffs. The Yankees are just 5-5 in their last 10 games and that includes a series split with Baltimore (2-2), a club by the way that is likely to set the MLB record for losses. The Pinstripes were huge -200 or more favorites in those games and they were played in hitter-friendly Oriole Park. Tropicana Field, on the other hand, is where great bats go to die.

The Rays' stock is low after nearly getting swept by the Marlins and if not for an incredible ninth-inning comeback yesterday, that would be the big story coming into this series with the Yankees. However, Daniel Robertson’s walk-off grand slam may have given his team some much-needed life. While the Rays are not world beaters, we can forgive them if they were looking ahead to this showdown with New York. There are many East Coast transplants in central Florida and these series' are huge for Tampa, which generally struggles to draw a crowd. The Rays usually play the Yankees tough and have won four straight against them. Tampa manager Kevin Cash will deploy his starter by committee strategy tonight, but that, too, has the Rays undervalued, as the uncertainty of who will be pitching after the first couple of innings does not have appeal in this market. That said, the Rays have been winning with a starter by committee strategy all year long. They are a tough team to beat no matter the opposition and this park produces underdog winners like no other. At the end of the day, the price here on the Rays is absurd.
