3:10 PM EST. We’re going a different direction in the Coors Field fade today and will play the chalk instead of the dog because the matchup calls for it.

For one, the Mets were issued 10 free passes last night and still lost. That’s hard to rebound from and today they’ll face Kyle Freeland, a lefty. That’s significant. Kyle Freeland loves pitching in Coors Field, where he has a 2.93 ERA in five starts. Freeland squared off against the Mets in New York on May 6 and allowed only two earned runs in seven innings but more importantly, the Mets are easily MLB's worst team against LHP, with an OPS almost 80 points below the next team.

By contrast, the Rockies have the NL's best home OPS, and they have the 4th-best OPS versus LHP. Steven Matz is a southpaw with a very respectable 3.31 ERA, but a 24% hit rate and a 4.31 xERA say that some regression is due. The Rocks are rolling at home and will remain at Coors to face Miami over the weekend so they’re in a great position to club the Mets over the head with a steel bat and send the Metropolitans back home with their heads down to get ready for a weekend series with the former Brooklyn Dodgers. What a great spot and matchup for the Rockies.
