8:05 PM EST. Kenta Maeda (RHP) is favored at Wrigley because why? Maeda logged a weak start in his first game back from the disabled list and is opposed by a Cubs’ offense that's been on fire of late (.329 OBA last 30 days). Maeda generated six swinging strikes against the Rangers and when you bake in the Cubs ability to make contact (4th in MLB), there could potentially be trouble in that department. Based on his first outing and today’s opponent, Maeda is a much bigger risk here than he was in his first start back against a much worse opponent.

Indeed we fear the Dodgers offense but cannot let that interfere with playing the Cubs as a pooch at home.

Tyler Chatwood (RHP) is the epitome of “effectively wild”. He has 58 K’s and 58 walks in 64 innings so he absolutely brings that risk. However, he also has the highest groundball rate in MLB among qualified starters at 64% and if he’s throwing strikes, he’s as tough an out as any in Chicago’s rotation. Chatwood is a great fade when he’s priced high because of that playing with fire walk rate but as a dog at home with a decent pen behind him, he and the Cubbies offer up strong value.
