3:45 PM EST. The Diamondbacks were one of the hottest teams in the majors to start the season but came crashing down to earth in May before seemingly getting back on track with a series sweep of the Marlins to ring in June. They've since split the first two games of this series with the Giants including a 3-2 win over the returning Madison Bumgarner last night. Getting a big win over a huge name like MadBum will surely have the DBacks back on the market's radar today.

Arizona will send out what's left of Clay Buchholz (RHP) who posted his first win since September of 2016 after limiting the Fish to one run and racking up nine strikeouts over seven innings last Friday night. Buchholz has allowed just one run in each of his three starts since joining the Snakes, which undoubtedly has his stock soaring after he was run out of both Boston and Philadelphia over the last two injury-plagued seasons. Buchholz has a market presence after years as an anchor in the BoSox rotation and that, combined with his sparkling 1.50 ERA, make him an appealing choice today, but do not be fooled by this small sample size. The 33-year-old carries an xERA of 4.24, which is far less flattering than his surface number. He also has an otherworldly strand percentage of 97.8% that will not be able to stand the test of time. At one time Buchholtz's fastball was hovering around 94/MPH but those days are long gone now, as it comes in at a pedestrian 90. With that decrease in velocity, Buchholtz is using it and his cutter (which has also seen a dip) much less than in the past. The clock is ticking on Clay Buchholtz and we will not miss the spectacular blow up, which just might come today in the bay.

The Giants have quietly been on a roll after winning five of their last six games and if not for stranding 11 baserunners last night, it very well could have been a six-pack special. San Francisco starters have led the charge by not allowing more than two runs in any of their last five contests.

Enter Chris Stratton (RHP), who we backed in his 4-0 win over the Phillies last time out. In that game, Stratton only allowed two baserunners against the Phils. The 27-year-old has an impressive 2.95 xERA over his last two starts including 13 strikeouts over 11 innings in those outings. He's also done a great job of limiting the long balls with only eight dingers given up over his 12 starts this season. Stratton's surface stats still aren't pretty, but he's trending in the right direction and is totally under the radar. Buy now before the market takes notice.
