2:05 PM EST. The Brewers' stock is soaring after they won their fifth series in a row by conquering the Mets this past weekend. While piling up the wins looks excellent on paper, it wasn't quite as easy as it seemed, as two of those Milwaukee Ws over the Mets came by just one run including yesterday's 8-7 triumph. The Brew Crew needed a four-run seventh to take the lead and claim victory in that series clincher. Enter Brent Suter (LHP) who has won two straight starts while allowing a total of just three runs over 11.1 frames, but a closer look shows he's pitching well over his head. Suter relies heavily on his fastball, but it's not because he's a real flamethrower. It's quite the opposite actually, as Suter's heater averages just 86.6 MPH. That combined with his 35.1% ground ball rate and his 74.1 strand percentage shows Suter is living quite the charmed life but a correction is likely coming. With the warmer weather here, the roof in Milwaukee has been open as of late and the balls are jumping out of Miller Park with high frequency, which is terrible news for a stiff like Suter.

On paper, Luke Weaver (RHP) is just 3-4 with a 4.31 ERA, but he's really picked up the slack lately after a terrible start to his season. In his last three trips to the bump, Weaver has posted an ERA of 1.89 and he was able to strikeout eight Royals over seven strong innings his last time out. That might not seem too significant, but when you consider Kansas City is the most disciplined team in the majors it's pretty impressive. Weaver took the loss that night, proving once again how meaningless a pitcher's win/loss record is. Weaver is just 1-2 over that three-game span despite throwing the best pitches he has all season. The oddsmakers would have you believe that this matchup is practically a coin flip, but that couldn't be further from the truth. So with that, we'll take this colossal pitching edge and let the chips fall where they may.
