10:10 PM EST. The Dodgers will be heading back to L.A. feeling pretty good after sweeping the Nationals in D.C. to run their winning streak to five games. All they did was defeat Stephen Strasburg and Max Scherzer in two of those games and they’ll now take a step down in class to face German Marquez (RHP) and the Rockies. By contrast, the Rockies aren’t feeling so good after back-to-back losses in San Francisco but it’s more than that and something we touched upon last week. Colorado’s 18-11 road record is all smoke and mirrors. The Rocks have somehow managed to squeeze out wins that they had no business doing so. This is one of the weakest offenses in all of baseball once you take away their skewed home stats. The market is completely and utterly fooled by this team but we’re not.

German Marquez is absolutely serviceable and has even compiled a 2.25 ERA over five games on the road, but his skills haven't fully supported it. Marquez has a horrible 1.65 WHIP this season and a 1.84 WHIP over his last five starts. He has two wins in nine starts and while the 43 K’s in 44 frames looks good, his below average swinging strike rate of 8% does not support that either.

The Dodgers tend to be very protective of their young arms so they wouldn’t have panicked and called up Walker Buehler if he wasn’t 100% MLB ready. Buehler (RHP) is currently sporting a 2.67 ERA and 1.15 WHIP over his first five games started and his results are being fully supported by a 54% groundball rate, 11.3 K’s/9 and a stellar 2.84 xERA. Buehler comes as good as advertised and will now face a Rockies nine that ranks 26th in K% against RHP (24%), 25th in RPG on the road (3.8), and 27th in wOBA over the last 15 days (.269).
