7:05 PM EST. The Orioles are on the fast track to losing 100 games and showed no signs of slowing down after an embarrassing 15-7 loss in the opening game of this series. That score actually flatters the Orange Birds, as they posted more than half of those runs in the bottom of the ninth inning. Baltimore has now lost seven straight games and has the poorest record in Major League Baseball at 8-27. The Orioles are a mess at the plate again this season after averaging the fourth highest strikeout rate in the majors, but that should come as no surprise as long as Buck Showalter continues to manage them. Showalter hasn't made an adjusted anything other than his jock strap in years and until he's fired, Baltimore will not be able to rebuild. Superstar Manny Machado has been the lone bright spot for the O's, but he's in the final year of his contract and is sure to cash in anywhere other than Baltimore. It probably doesn't help that Showalter criticized his only meal ticket’s play in the field recently by saying Machado's freewheeling at short includes "errors of aggression". The O's will send Andrew Cashner (RHP) to the bump, but it doesn't really matter which gas can they start. Cashner is winless in each of his last five starts and only lasted 4.2 innings against the A's in his most recent outing. Cashner's walk rate is up slightly from last season and his xERA (4.92) is pretty much in line with his actual ERA (4.89), so there is nothing underneath the hood that suggests he isn't as bad as he has appeared so far this season.

The Royals are finally rolling after a dreadful start to the season, as they have won seven of their last 10 games. Last night's 15-run explosion was their best offensive effort of the season. Unlike the O's, the Royals are quite disciplined at the plate and have fewer strikeouts per game than any team in MLB. Eric Skoglund (LHP) doesn't have much to show for his last five outings, but he's had some bad luck along the way. On the surface, Skoglund's 6.84 ERA is not going to look appealing to many, but a closer look shows his xERA is 4.17, which strongly suggests a correction to the good is forthcoming. Skoglund has posted 8.54 K's/9 and a walk rate of just 3.02 BB's/9 in his first three starts of the season, which is great because the Orioles swing at everything. The Royals are not likely to hang double-digits on the board again tonight, but they might not need it. The Orioles are a sinking ship and cannot be favored in this range against a team as hot as Kansas City. We'll be playing K.C. on the reverse run line, as this number is just too good to pass up in a hitters paradise like Oriole Park at Camden Yards.
