7:10 PM EST. Luis Castillo (RHP) is another starter whose surface ERA (7.85) provides an opportunity to buy him at bargain prices. This is a starter that posted a 3.12 ERA in 89 frames for the Reds last year after being called up well after the season began. He utilized a 98 mph fastball, hard slider, sinker and vastly improved change-up (23% swing and miss rate, 59% grounders) to great success in 2017. His ability to induce an extreme amount of grounders with lots of strikeouts and respectable control is immensely appealing. You’ll notice he thrived in the warm months and has struggled (on the surface) in this colder weather. Well, goodbye cold weather and hello 75-80 (°F) at Great American Ballpark. Castillo is still missing bats at a high rate (15%) and the Crew rarely see a pitch they don’t like. You could play Castillo and the Reds at -111 or thereabouts but we’ll choose to lay the extra half run and take back this sweet price because we expect Cinci to put up a crooked number.

The Milwaukee Brewers have added Wade Miley (LHP) to the roster and sent LHP Brent Suter to the bullpen. While Suter's move to the bullpen was expected due to his rough start to the season as a member of the starting rotation, the duration of Miley's starting trial is unclear as the back of the Milwaukee rotation is likely to continue to remain in flux. Miley's recent history suggests he is not a quality option, and might fail in this opportunity. Miley’s historical susceptibility to the HR does not bode well at this hitter’s park either. Remember, this is his first appearance of the year. Last year, Miley fell apart completely as his consistently high hit rate was finally paired with terrible control (including MLB-high 93 walks) for the ultimate disaster. A high strand rate saved him in the first half but buckled under the pressure of nearly two runners per inning pitched in the second half. Even a drop in walks wouldn't help him much because he’s at the end of the line according to all his weak skills. How would be the time to move in hard against this not-for-long starter.
