3:35 PM EST. Note the early start time. The White Sox are struggling miserably with one win in their past nine games, a 2-1 victory over the Rays. Aside from that, the South Side’s offense has gone south with two runs scored or fewer in six of those nine loses including the past four in a row. Things don’t get easier here for that anemic offense against Andrew Triggs (RHP).

Hip surgery in July of last year put Andrew Triggs on the DL for the second half of the 2017 season. His "F" health grade and overall skills didn't offer much light at the end of the tunnel but the kid has found something and we’re on it early. Generating groundballs with his sinker (59%) is not a bad place to start, which is precisely what Triggs has done after three starts. What we love about this start is that the South Side’s batters are pressing big time and that bodes well for Triggs because he’s getting hitters to chase pitches out of the zone at an elite rate of 39.1%. His slider out of the zone has also led to some whiffs (15%). Triggs comes in with a BB/K split of 6/17 through 18 frames to go along with an impressive 2.87/3.37 ERA/xERA split. 

The South Side will call upon Carson Fulmer (RHP) to try and stop the bleeding. Fulmer went 2-3 with a 3.86 ERA in 23 innings for Chicago last year over two starts and three relief appearances. Fulmer is a college product that has struggled with mechanics in both the minors and the bigs with his long-term role still under debate. His power arm hasn't translated to whiffs, which he'll need to divert attention from his subpar first-pitch strike rate, shoddy control, and HR proclivity at least so far. In 10 innings over two starts, Fulmer has walked nine and struck out seven and he’ll now face a very warm and dangerous A’s squad that has reeled off three wins in a row while scoring 20 times over that span. More AAA time is likely in Fulmer’s near future so the time to pounce against him would be now.
