7:10 PM EST. Chase Anderson is still in search of his first win in 2018, but it's not from a lack of trying. Anderson tossed six scoreless innings of one-hit ball against the Padres to start the season, but did not factor into an extra inning decision. In his last outing, Anderson held the Cubs to two runs over six innings, but took the loss, as his team could not muster any runs in a 3-0 defeat. The Brewers have only been able to score two runs this season while Anderson was on the mound, so it's not his fault the wins aren't there. The 30-year-old is striking out 7.31 batters per nine innings and has a very nice .214 BABIP through three starts. It's just a matter of time before Anderson starts getting some run support and when he does the wins will pile up.
The Mets are the hottest team in the Majors after a sizzling 11-1 start to the season, but it's not all rainbows and sunshine, as catcher Travis d'Arnaud will miss the rest of the season with Tommy John surgery in his future. Backup catcher Kevin Plawecki will also miss a month or more with a broken hand, which leaves the Mets without a solid option behind the plate. Journeyman Jose Lobaton was behind the dish last night, but he does not have the same relationship or trust with the Mets pitching staff as the other two. Enter Matt Harvey who looked like the ace of old in his first start of the season, but shutting out the Phillies is nothing to write home about. Harvey looked much more human in his second start against the Nationals and did not factor in the decision after allowing four runs and nine hits over five innings. The Mets gave Harvey two different two-run leads and he could not hold the Nats at bay. Through two starts, Harvey's fastball velocity is way down to just 92.8 MPH. His skills are declining and we will not miss out on another opportunity to fade Harvey while he and the Mets' stock is sky high.
