2:05 PM EST. Did you see David Price (LHP) in his first game of the year? WOW. Dude breezed through seven scoreless innings with just 76 pitches thrown. He will take on the Rays for a second consecutive start today and the market is eating it up. Look, maybe David Price thrives again and maybe the Red Sox score 10 runs but David Price and the Red Sox favored in this range after just one start is very simply a massive overreaction to his first start. It is for that reason, we must roll with the Rays and don’t be surprised if they pull it off.

Yonny Chirinos (RHP) is another arm who will be asked to put up multiple innings for the Rays. As a starter in the minor leagues, he can give the team as many innings as they need. When he does pitch, he will bring a four-pitch mix in his fastball, slider, splitter and change-up. He can locate that low-90s mph fastball with precision to the corners, and he can make it cut and sink at will. He will throw any of his pitch types for strikes. None of them are plus, but they are solid. Where he is outstanding is in his control. The 6'2", 170-pound Chirinos seems to have come out of the womb fully formed with an aversion to giving up walks. He has a career Ctl of 1.4 BB’s/9 and the only time he ever exceeded 2 was his first exposure to North American rookie ball which much have shaken him up so badly his BB rate soared all the way up to 2.3/9. It's been in the 1s (or 0s) ever since. He will sequence his pitches, putting them wherever he wants and keeping the batters off balance. Give us a guy that throws strikes, has four pitchers that the opposition has never seen and that hasn’t given up a run in four relief innings and now throw in a tag like this and we’ll take our chances.
