His age, skill flashes and prior upside still give reason to consider him but this isn’t about getting behind Walker. This wager is all about playing the D-backs at home getting a price against Hyun-Jin Ryu.

Hyun-Jin Ryu (LHP) is 31-years old and has started only 26 games over the past two seasons and just 51 over the past three. Last season, a first half HR barrage hurt, as Ryu struggled versus lefties early on and his formerly fine control was missing in action all season. With health improvement there might be some upside down the road but we want to see it first. Ryu is coming off a horrendous spring to face a a Diamondbacks’ team that he struggled against in two games last season (6.40 xERA). Current Arizona hitters own an OPSA of .903 against Ryu over 68 plate appearances. In 5 career games at Chase Field, he's compiled a 4.80 ERA with a 5.92 xERA and that’s when he was throwing better than he is now. Maybe we’re crazy but Ryu cannot and should not be road chalk here.
