WINNIPEG -1 over Saskatchewan

4:00 PM EST. The Roughriders are 3-1, with their one blemish coming by way of these Blue Bombers on Labour Day Sunday and there's a buzz in the market that Saskatchewan is coming to the Manitoba capital with revenge on its minds. The "revenge" angle is one that the market and the talking heads eat up. It is low-hanging, easy fodder that one can use to justify their selection. It appears the market has done just that, as they've taken a stand on this game, driving the price down on the Blue Bombers to its current level.

What is there to like about Saskatchewan? From our viewpoint, not much. Other than Ottawa, this might be the worst team in the CFL. Cody Fajardo was supposed to contend for the Most Outstanding Player award, but that has not worked out so far. On Labour Day, Fajardo was terrible, completing just 59% of his 39 pass attempts for 211 yards and three interceptions. If dude doesn't get his shit together, he'll be wrapping chicken fajitas at the McDonald's on Regina's North Albert Street before too long. That’s actually where he was headed when he was the third string QB. He caught everyone by surprise for a while but the gig is almost over.

If Labour Day is supposed to be a hard day at the office for opposing quarterbacks, the Banjo Bowl is no different. Investors Group Field is sold out and 33000 vaccinated prairie football fans will attend this game. We can't think of a prettier picture. We're willing to put stock into much of the Blue Bombers' domination during the LDC with such a short turnaround here. Zach Collaros completed 70.4% of his passes for 245 yards, adding a touchdown and an interception. Collaros' low touchdown total is deceiving, as the Bombers used backup Sean McGuire to run two majors in from just outside the goal line. Unlike the Riders, the Bombers featured a healthy pass/run balance with Andrew Harris adding 95 yards on the ground on 18 carries. Saskatchewan's Willie Powell would only touch the rock eight times. That leaves all the pressure on the pivot.

TSN professed that last Sunday's LDC featured the two best teams in the CFL, well, they were half right, maybe. There is no doubt the Bombers are the superior side here. Winnipeg is playing at home, which is fantastic fuel for a flame that has yet to burn at its brightest. This line is at least four or five points shorter than it should be. Underlay.
