4:00 PM EST. Last week the Redblacks came off their bye and as a 3½-point home favorite over Winnipeg, they scored 14 points while allowing 29. In last week’s loss to Winnipeg, the Redblacks had an all-time franchise low of just 20:59 time of possession — the lowest by any Ottawa club since 2003. To suggest that the RedBlacks were flat last week would be an understatement, thus, there is very little chance of them being flat again here, which is why we’re not taking the nine points being offered. The total here is way too low when you consider that last week’s total against Winnipeg’s #1 defense was 53. The Redblacks strategy under this current regime is to play fast and that high tempo approach is precisely what you’ll see here. Ottawa will get their points.

QB Vernon Adams Jr. has a 4-2 record as a starter for the Als going back to October 2016. The 26-year-old was with the Als in 2016, before going to Saskatchewan, then Hamilton (he never played a game for the Ticats before being released), then back to Montreal. He has the ability to run the football (he rushed for 60 yards in six carries in last week’s win over the Ticats), which is another dimension the Redblacks will have to prepare for. However, that’s not the only focus for Ottawa’s defense. Emerging star William Stanback ran for 203 yards on 22 carries last week, with four runs of 20-plus yards. Stanback’s 200-plus-yard performance was the first in the CFL since Calgary’s Jon Cornish in 2013 (208 yards). If the Als coaching staff is on the ball, that opens up the playbook for Adams Jr. and the entire offense. Both defense have shown massive vulnerabilities but at the end of the day, it’s all still about value. We point out last week’s Ottawa/Winnipeg total being at 53 and this week’s being at 51. That’s a big mistake by the books.
