8:30 PM EST. The gap between the top tier teams in the CFL to their bottom feeding counterparts appears to be wider than ever and the Eskimos destruction of the Lions last night helped highlight that fact even further. Those Lions, as pitiful as they are, beat these Argonauts in an ugly 18-17 decision last week in Toronto. That game was played last Saturday, meaning the Argos are playing on the road on a short week against the only undefeated squad left in the league. The Lions coaches were completely unprepared after that quick turnaround. No offense to Argos bench boss Cory Chamberlain, but his ability to put together a competent game plan this season is suspect at best. The Boatmen have scored 38 points this season. Total. In three games. That offensive impotence cannot be ignored, especially when you consider this total being in the 50s. Who is going to post those points? Perhaps the Argos come to play tonight, but we're betting it's the Bombers that are going to be racking up the majors.

We've been critical of the 3-0 Bombers, as they've benefited from the bounces, but the fact that this team hasn't hit full stride yet makes them very scary. The only way Winnipeg doesn't cover these double digits is if it makes dozens of mistakes. That outcome is possible, but unlikely. The Blue Bombers shouldn't be flat, as the locker room is hip to the fact that this looks like a "trap game" because of the worst versus first positioning these teams find themselves in, which Winnipeg safety Jeff Hecht highlighted this week. "Some teams have the habit of playing down to an opponent rather than forcing an opponent to play up to them. I don't think anyone in our locker room is taking them lightly enough to convince ourselves that we need to bring them up to our level. We're taking them seriously. They are professionals and they're getting paid and we need to not let them get any momentum." Hecht also referenced last week's massive win by Montreal over mighty Hamilton as a double-digit dog. The Bombers appear to be preparing the right way and are rounding into form, while the Argos are as bad as the Lions. Rarely, other than college, is spotting two converted TD’s a bargain but in this case, it truly is one. Swallow the points and ride the Blue and Gold to the window.
