7:00 PM EST. Expectations were high for the Lions after they lured quarterback Mike Reilly from Edmonton, but an 0-2 start to the season already has the veteran pivot shaving his trademark beard in order to spark something here in Week 3. Reilly doesn't deserve all of the blame for B.C.’s subpar start, as he's been on his ass more than he's been upright after taking seven sacks over two games. The Lions running game is also non-existent after racking up just 57 yards to start the year. That includes four lousy yards in Week 1. Incredible. When you are expected to compete, but can't sniff a win, that W becomes more elusive each week. Trying to lockdown a victory against a team like the Stampeders is not one you want to try and get your footing against, especially in Calgary. Furthermore, the Lions one-dimensional offense and poor coaching is not that difficult to prepare against and that’s exactly what Edmonton did in the second half last week after making halftime adjustments. The Lions were annihilated in the second half by Edmonton last week.

The Stamps are 0-1 after sitting idle last week, but they are not likely to hit the panic button. Calgary was cruising to an easy Week 1 win over Ottawa after going up 21-6 in the second quarter, but they stumbled in the second half and gave up 11 unanswered points to not only blow the double-digit cover, but lose the game outright. That one game sample size might be enough for some in the market to discount the defending Grey Cup champions, as this line has come down, but we're not going to be so swift in our judgement. There will be many familiar faces on the Lions sidelines, as former Stamps defensive coordinator DeVone Claybrooks is now the headman in Vancouver and he was joined by receiver Lemar Durant and linebacker Maleki Harris in BC. If the Stamps have a strategic advantage, it may be that they faced Claybrooks and his defensive scheme in practice for years and there isn't likely much their old coach can throw at them that this offense hasn't seen. If we're betting on one team to turn things around, it's going to be Calgary. The Lions' ship is sinking and they don't have the personnel to plug the holes. If the Stamps stay focused and on point, this one could get ugly. Two weeks of stewing after the loss to Ottawa should be long enough to ensure Calgary is not flat here and we’ll therefore lay the big lumber with confidence. B.C. is bad and getting worse.
