8:35 PM EST Although it's still early, it appears that the revamped Eskimos made the right moves at the key positions, as they lead the league in both net offense and defense. New quarterback Trevor Harris leads the CFL in passing yards, completion percentage and touchdowns, which has made it easy for the Esks faithful to forget that Mike Reilly chose the B.C. Lions over them. Reilly got a rude awakening last week when his Leos visited Commonwealth Stadium and the Eskimos defense feasted with seven sacks.  If there is one concern we may have with the Eskies tonight, it's that they may be in a bit of a letdown spot after the emotional return of Reilly to the Alberta capital, but with a bye on deck next week, we're willing to bet this disrespected group will bring it here against the highly touted Blue Bombers. Remember, Edmonton came into the season with low expectations and a chip on their shoulder. With a bye up next, we trust motivation will be high to go into the break 3-0. Not only do the Ekies have a chip on their shoulder, this is a confident team with a QB playing better than any other. How great it would feel to be 3-0 after three weeks after they were written off when Reilly left.

Winnipeg sat idle last week after disposing of the Lions in Vancouver in Week 1, but if you stayed up to watch that game, you know that win wasn't as impressive as the double-digit margin would have you believe. Reilly outpassed Matt Nichols, while the Lions return game racked up 244 yards and included a Brandon Rutley kickoff return for a touchdown that helped propel the Lions to a 17-14 lead at half time. Nichols effort wasn't poor by any means, but he did nothing to silence the critics that call him a "game manager." The Blue Bombers biggest offseason splash was picking up star receiver Chris Matthews and he'll make his season debut tonight, but expecting instant fireworks might be unfair. After starting and stopping and now having to start again, there is a chance the Bombers could be caught flat-footed here in their home opener. If that happens, it could be a long day at the office, as the Esks can score in bunches. Edmonton has outgained its two opponents by a combined 500 yards while Winnipeg outgained BC by 26 yards and that came on the ground and not in the air. Of course this is a game Edmonton can win outright and at a price like this, that's precisely how we'll play it.
