8:30 PM EST. The Blue Bombers have won three straight and lead the league in many offensive and defensive categories, which no doubt has their stock trading at a season high. Despite their success on the stat sheet, there is one number that is more important to the Bombers success than any other and that is their league leading 25 takeaways. They are tied with undefeated Calgary in that luck-based statistic and there is a direct correlation between takeaways and each of those teams success on the field this year. Winnipeg isn't a good football team and neither are the Stampeders, but we'll leave out the Stamps for another time. In Winnipeg’s Week 7 win over Toronto, a 4-1 takeaway advantage was the difference in a game in which Winnipeg was outgained. Final score? 40-14 Bombers. Last week against the Tiger-Cats, the Blue and Gold were dominated when it came to total yardage with Hamilton having a +120 advantage. Again, the Bombers won the turnover battle and got the W 29-23. Both of those games are a great example of why just looking at the final score isn't enough. You've got to dig deeper to get the whole story.

The market was licking its lips last week with the Redblack getting a shot at Johnny Manziel and the Alouettes just a week after both were embarrassed on national television in the U.S. and Canada. If you've been at this for any length of time, you know that there are no easy winners, however, in this case, it should have been a route. Ottawa was spotting 14-points to Johnny Football and company and outgained the Als by 330 yards (!) and won the time of possession battle by nearly 13 minutes. Despite that dominance, the Redblacks trailed most of that contest and were never really a threat to cover the double-digit spread. The story of the game, as it often is, was those costly turnovers. Ottawa put the ball on the turf five times and lost four of those fumbles. Quarterback Trevor Harris threw one interception on an otherwise great night that saw him go 44-for-54, 487 yards and a major. Ottawa also had 24-point lead against the Argos two weeks and got caught taking their foot off the pedal. Thus, if you’ve bet Ottawa the past two weeks, you are 0-2 and when they market jumps off, we like to jump on. Meanwhile Winnipeg is 2-0 over the past two weeks but should be 0-2 because they were outplayed and out-gained both times. Thus, a correction is very likely coming for both sides, which makes taking back these significant points on the Redblacks is a high quality play that we endorse with confidence. That said, the better than 2-1 odds straight up on the better team and hugely superior QB is where our money is going. Ottawa outright.
