4:00 PM EST. At 1-3 and without their Hall of Fame quarterback, the Argonauts' stock is sinking faster than the Titanic. However, unlike that doomed vessel, the Boatmen are led by a competent captain, which in this league is a bigger deal than you might think. Marc Trestman's crew hasn't put up a pile of points in the early going, but the Argo defense has improved and played well in back-to-back games against the Eskimos where they gave up a combined 33 points and split those two contests. Despite taking the loss in Edmonton last week, the Argos were said to be sharp in practice and Trestman said his side would be ready, "the guys know that come Saturday at 4 o’clock, we’ve got to perform." The Argos are getting progressively better each week and so is their new QB, James Franklin, who is also gaining more confidence every week.

Losing at B.C. Place is nothing new for the Blue Bombers but the way they went about last week's defeat at the hands of the Lions has to be a concern. After shutting out the Leos and taking a 17-0 lead into halftime, the Bombers completely collapsed both on the field and on the sidelines. Why would a team that has the league's top rushing attack stop running the ball with a double-digit second-half lead? Bombers' offensive coordinator Paul LaPolice took the blame after the offense blew it from inside the Lions' five yard line. LaPo called for backup QB Chris Streveler to keep it twice rather than hand it off to the league's best back in Andrew Harris. Instead of going up 23-0, the Bombers turned the ball over on downs and gave the Lions life. The Blue Bombers didn't learn their lesson either, as they failed in another critical short-yardage situation in the fourth quarter. Up 17-10, the Bombers coaches had Streveler roll out on third and one rather than run it up the middle. In case you didn't know, CFL defensive lines are forced to play a full yard off the line of scrimmage, which makes the QB sneak a virtual lock, even when the D knows it’s coming. Unforced errors also did the Bombers in, as Matt Nichols threw three interceptions and there were a pair of significant penalties in the second half that kept the Bombers defense on the field and the momentum with the hometown Lions. It doesn't matter how good team is if they are run by idiots, as it's hard not just to win, but also to cover as road chalk. That's what makes spotting points with the Bombers on the road here so difficult. On paper, the Bombers are the easy choice and the market has taken that stand, as this line has moved from a pick 'em to Winnipeg now being a clear favorite. The Bombers have the talent but they are a sloppy, inefficient, badly coached team while the Argos are none of those. Argos outright is the call but we’ll play it conservatively and take the points.
